On Saturday 15th June, self-help groups for stammerers in the North of England will meet up to launch the Northern Stammerhouse.
Max Gattie, founder of the Manchester support group, says, "The aim is to pool our resources, ideas, energies and enthusiasm to make a collective effort to help and support people who stammer in the region.
'This event is open to all, so whether you stammer, know someone who does, or simply have an active interest in stammering, then please join us at this event."
Features
The day will consist of interactive workshops and keynote talks from:
- Alex Staniforth, international TEDx speaker, who'll be challenging fear of failure and empowering audiences to change their mindsets towards adversity, and
- Jane Powell, CEO of the British Stammering Association, who will open the day with an update on the new Stamma campaign.
Max adds, "We’re really excited about this event and it’s gearing up to be really different and special."
Post-event drinks
Organisers say, "We are having post-event drinks at Kro Bar, which does serve food, but if you don’t fancy joining us there, we hear the Ivy is good."
