Do you fancy starting up your own group or network to bring people who stammer together? We've got everything you need.
Have you looked at our list of local stammering groups but couldn't see one near you? Want to meet others who stammer in your place of work? Or maybe set up an online group for people with shared interests?
Why not start a community yourself?
We strongly believe in the life-changing potential of connecting people who share similar experiences. Starting a stammering community and making new friends won't just benefit you. Stammering can be really isolating, so you'll be making a massive difference to the lives of others.
"I set up Coventry Stammerers because I felt really isolated; I felt ashamed of my stammer and couldn't show people who I was. The group has really helped me to change my mindset about stammering. It's helped me to find my space". (Bhupinder)
Your community could be:
- a self-help or support group
- a social group
- a group based around a shared interest, like a book club or walking group. Or around your interest in stammering, eg as a parent or therapist.
- a work-based network. You could support each other and discuss how to influence your employer to become stammer-friendly.
It doesn't have to be scary or difficult!
Head over to our Community Resources hub, which is packed with guides and templates to help you set up and build your group or network.
