Gareth Gates' success on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins sparks TV coverage of stammering.

Congratulations to Gareth Gates for being crowned winner of the hit Channel 4 show last Sunday. 

Gareth displayed his resilience to come out top on the show which tested contestants' physical and mental strength through a series of very gruelling challenges. In one such challenge, Gareth opened up about his experiences of stammering to the nation. In an emotional scene, he told interrogators how he was bullied at school for his stammer. You can watch the episode back on All 4.

Gareth, who shot to fame in 2002 as runner-up on ITV's Pop Idol, told the press after his win: "I'm always trying to become better and stronger. I train hard in the gym, but I'm also very driven in life. I think all that comes from having had that drive to get myself out of the traumatic situations I faced with bullies when I was a kid". 

STEPH'S PACKED LUNCH

The story was covered on today's edition of Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4. On the show, guests Georgia Scott, TikTok influencer (search for @ge0rgiatalks) and rapper Kitch talked about their experiences of stammering. It also featured a speech & language therapist who gave guidance for anyone seeking help with stammering and on how best to react when talking to someone who stammers.
